So, here we are, all of us on a journey into a new future….
For everyone at Déda, this means having to look at what we do – or what we did – and reimagine and refresh our working lives, our working relationships, our ways of doing and of being.
“LIVE in your Living Room” is one response to the Pandemic that surrounds us. It acknowledges that we have spent many weeks in lockdown and will possibly do so for a while longer. “LIVE in your Living Room”, is a small sample of our thinking to date, an attempt to bring us closer together as we all remain distant and apart.
Over the course of May and June Déda will bring you a selection of experiences – from an evening of streamed Circus, including the phenomenal “Wiredo” by Lumo Company which tells a gripping story of stepping out of your comfort zone, to spectacular dance with the National Dance Company of Wales and their extraordinary triple bill.
There will be ample opportunity to participate through our “Reimagine” programme working with our partners at Derby Theatre for 13 to 18-year olds – with weekly creative challenges sent out to those who sign up!
Arts professionals will have an opportunity to chat with Déda Creative Producer Phil Hargreaves during several bookable online surgeries.
Mindfulness sessions with our very own Pam Sidhu will help with the long haul towards a relaxing of lockdown and “HOMEWORK” will be a programme of blogs which seeks to discover what Déda staff have been up to while on Furlough – with an open invitation to the public - to respond with their own experiences and responses to the difficulties, challenges and revelations of our suddenly socially distanced lives…..
There will be more to come, as we seek to find ways to respond to the crisis and ensure Déda can provide support and connectivity as we reach for solutions in the weeks and months to come.
There will be a day when we can fling open Déda’s doors again, welcoming you (probably in a socially distanced and responsible way at first) in to eat and drink at the Cube, to dance and fly in our studios and to dream and imagine with our artists in the theatre and on the streets….
It won’t be long – but it will be long enough…. and Déda will be there for you when the time is right.
