Hi! My name’s Esme, I’m in Year 10, and I have spent the week at Déda doing my work experience placement. I’ve been dancing since I was about 4 years old, and I have been able to try lots of different styles and learn so many different techniques from others. I am mostly a contemporary dancer, and I am also a member of one of Déda’s youth dance companies, In Motion, so I was curious to learn more about what happens here. I have had the best time working alongside the team here, and everyone has been so welcoming towards me. This week, I have worked with so many different people, and been taught so much about their jobs and what they do.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many people, each with their own individual dance background and story, which has really inspired me with my own. I’ve also had the opportunity to get to know lots of the departments that make up the running of the business, which has been so interesting to learn about.
I have so many highlights from my work experience, but naming a few, I have really enjoyed taking part in classes, and getting to know the teaching techniques of other tutors. I have also enjoyed completing tasks and getting to listen to what different members of the team like the most about their job here. Although I’m still a bit uncertain on what I want to do as a career in the future, learning about all these different elements of these jobs has helped me realise what I am interested in and what aspects I enjoy of each.
This week has flown by so quickly, and I have really enjoyed every part of it, so I will definitely make sure to often check where I can volunteer and take part further here. Thank you to everyone at Déda for letting me work alongside you and teaching me all about your fascinating jobs! :)
